Mental Health Services Are Not Ready (Interview)

In this interview Tarlii and I discuss the state of mental health services in Australia. There are a lot of campaigns out there promoting help seeking behaviour but the current health care system is already struggling to look after the people who are already receiving treatment.

Tarlii was also the second last patient to be transitioned out of the Barrett Adolescent Centre before it was closed by the Liberal government in 2012 as part of an effort to cut $100 million dollars from the Queensland health budget. She gives us more information about what the transition process out of Barrett was actually like. She also wrote an article about Barrett after it’s closure which can be found here.

Tarlii is also looking into starting her own project which we discuss in this video as well. I will post more information about her project on my social media as it develops for anyone who is interested in following that.

We will be interviewing more people about a range of mental health issues. If you’d like to be involved, get in touch.
